Class Organisation

The pre-school class has a maximum of 16 children of which 11 are typically developing children. The children are aged between 3 and 4 years old.  Occasionally a 5 year old child from the Lighthouse Special Education will be placed for a year in the Three Little Ships class.

There is a high staff-to-student ratio, with three qualified Early Years professionals working in the class. In addition to the regular staff, there are also care staff – for children who require more individual attention to keep them safe-, therapists and volunteers who visit the classroom.

The children who have additional educational needs receive daily individualised teaching. In some cases, a child may join the preschool class for an assessment or observation period of up to a year.
